Love Island’s Jess Shears hits back over claims of ‘sell-out secret wedding’

Jess Shears has hit back at fans complaining that their “secret” wedding was actually broadcast to the world by OK! Magazine.

Jess and Dom Lever recently got hitched in an intimate ceremony in Mykonos – but didn’t invite any of their Love Island co-stars.

However, when they made the big reveal yesterday – complete with front page splash on the celebrity magazine – fans pointed out that it wasn’t “secret” or “low-key” to sell your marriage to a publication.

One said: “Funny how @Jessica_Rose_UK and @_DomLever kept their wedding quiet but sold the photos to ok mag #desperate ”, while another follower added: “How is it a secret most of the world know #confused ”

Jess took to Twitter to say: “The word secret is getting thrown around a lot – nothing secret about it just wanted a low key day with our closest friends and family and now we are back in the UK we are excited to share it with you all.”

The couple got engaged just three months after they met on the ITV2 dating show, and said ‘I Do’ recently in front of 22 of their friends and family members – but none of their co-stars were invited.

Jess, who searched for her gown on reality show Say Yes To The Dress, and her new husband explained why they didn’t ask any of their fellow Islanders to watch them walk down the aisle.

Jess told OK! magazine: "We only had room for our closest friends and family. We’re planning a party in the UK when we’re home so we’ll invite Olivia Attwood , Sam Gowland and Chloe Crowhurst to that.

"I know there were reports that Olivia was going to be a bridesmaid but that was never the plan."

The couple, who partied through the night until 7am after tying the knot, feel they’ve proved those who doubted their relationship wrong.

Dom told the mag: "People said we wouldn’t last but now we’re husband and wife. We’re proof that when you meet the right person, there’s no need to hang around."
