Marky Mark to get hands-on with the F45 bunch

Hollywood actor Mark Wahlberg intends to be very hands-on with his investment in Australian-made fitness franchise F45.

The former Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch frontman, who successfully made his way from rapper to model before eventually making his mark on Hollywood with roles in films like Boogie Nights, Three Kings, The Perfect Storm and, more recently, Patriots Day, has bought a minority stake in the popular franchise, it was revealed on Tuesday.

Mark Wahlberg has taken a minority stake in the fitness franchise F45 founded by Rob Deutsch.

"We were certainly willing to put as much in as they would allow us to, that's for sure," he said. "That's how much we love the business."

Fitness has been a long-time passion for the father-of-four, including a daily 2:30am wake-up call so he can pray before his 90-minute gym session at 3:40am.

With a number of fitness-related investments already made, including into Aquahydrate, a water brand, and a natural workout supplement maker called Performance Inspired Nutrition, he doesn't plan on taking a back seat in the F45 business, with plans for expansion already on his mind.

"I will be as active as they will allow me to be based on all of my relationships and connections," he said.

"I have great relationships with real estate owners, property, the military, supermarket chains in the Midwest. As long as I can continue to reach out to people that I know that I have done business with in the past and introduce them to this amazing concept and convince them that this will be easy and the most exciting thing to come into their area in a long time.

"I'll do whatever is required of me and I always do that bit more just because I am so excited."

While he is already underway with his ideas for the business, he has no plans to alter the 45-minute high-intensity, circuit training-style classes.

"I think what they are doing is amazing," Wahlberg said. "If we can continue to help it and grow it and to figure out ways to get people to partake in the F45 fitness experience, that's going to be amazing."

Once he finishes shooting his next (unspecified) film in mid-May, he said he will be found in an F45 studio in whatever city he is in – and encouraging his A-lister friends to join him.
