Rihanna graces the cover of this year’s beauty issue for Harper’s Bazaar. In her pictorial — which is already being called “iconic” and “trendsetting” — Rihanna matches haute couture looks from the houses of Chanel, Givenchy, Dior, Valentino and Margiela Artisanal (John Galliano) with a technicolor explosion of eye shadows and makeup from her own Fenty line.
One technique in particular, however, used by Rihanna for the shoot is getting a great deal of buzz. That is the pairing of bold-colored mascaras with multiple different colors of eye shadows at the same time. While certainly a technique already used by some beauty vloggers and special effects cosmetologists, Rihanna’s use of the prismatic effect with couture in one of the most respected high fashion magazines is creating a buzz.
