'Avengers: Endgame' Cast Reveals Their Favorite Fan Theories

The release of Avengers: Endgame is fast approaching and the fan theories aren’t showing any signs of slowing. While some Marvel fans believe they have the Avengers: Endgame plot and ending figured out, Robert Downey Jr. recently remarked that “There is no way anybody could guess what’s going to happen.”

Avengers: Endgame stars talk favorite fan theories

When the cast recently sat down for the Avengers: Endgame press conference in Seoul, they were asked about their favorite fan theories.

There have been many theories, but some of them are more out there than others. Jeremy Renner, who plays Hawkeye, didn’t point to a specific theory but definitely appreciates the fan interest, sharing: “I just love that people are really that invested in the emotions and the characters in the decade of the movies that have come out. It makes me feel proud to be a part of it.”

Robert Downey Jr., who plays Iron Man, said he’s especially fond of that rather gross theory that Ant-Man shrinks in size, enters Thanos’ body and then grows to rip him apart from the inside. Downey Jr. joked: “My favorite [fan theory] is Ant-Man goes up Thanos’ butt and then makes himself big. And that’s exactly what happens.”

Paul Rudd addressed that interesting Ant-Man and Thanos
theory

Since the theory involves Paul Rudd, naturally, he has some interest in the Thanus Theory. He remarked to the L.A. Times: “I’ve been asked about it a bunch. I am amused a bit at how widespread it seems to have gotten.”

When Rudd sat down for an interview on The Graham Norton Show and was asked about the theory, he did have a fairly significant complaint, sharing: “A lot of people have asked me recently if I shrink down and go… into Thanos, in a certain orifice, and then grow giant size. But why not the ear or the nose? Why does it have to be [that]?”

The Russo Brothers weigh in on the ‘Thanus Theory’

Even the Russo Brothers have something to say about the bizarre Ant-Man and Thanos theory, with Anthony Russo telling the L.A. Times: “‘Thanus’ is truly the most ridiculous fan theory we’ve ever heard.”

Joe Russo agreed, but definitely wants to give the fan who
invented it some credit, noting: “But it’s a highly inventive one. I want
to know who came up with it.”

Crazy fan theories aside, the Russo Brothers spoke with Nerdist about the reason why it’s difficult for anyone to predict exactly what happens in Avengers: Endgame.

Anthony shared: “Joe and I spent our entire lives as fans,
so the idea that the audience can participate in these stories is important to
us. The idea that they’re out there using their own imaginations and creativity
to think about where these characters can go, where these stories can go… it’s
magnificent.”

He continued: “Sometimes, you know, people will say
things that’s kind of next door to something we’re doing, but oddly
enough nobody ever, no one ever thinks of it exactly. There’s so much
variation and so many odds in terms of how these things unfold that the
specific narrative, nobody actually guesses that.”
