Very little is known about the plot of Avengers Endgame and specifically how the survivors plan on reversing Thanos’ Snap in Avengers Infinity War. Nevertheless, the most popular theory sees the Avengers travel back in time through the Quantum Realm to collect or copy the Infinity Stones before Thanos did. There have been two movies released in-between Infinity War and Endgame in the form of Ant-Man and the Wasp and Captain Marvel. Clearly, both prequels to Infinity War have clues as to the plan for Endgame. For Ant-Man and the Wasp, it’s the use of the Quantum Realm – which is what the white suits in the latest trailer are confirmed to be used for.
So just what is Captain Marvel teasing apart from her inclusion in Avengers Endgame?
Well, MCU Cosmic editor Jeremy Conrad has pointed out that she could be the answer to getting the Infinity Stones without disrupting the space-time continuum.
Conrad tweeted: “There’s a way to handle time travel and the stones without changing the past and reversing the Snap that way.
“The way Captain Marvel got her powers from the Tesseract could be a big clue to what they plan to do.”
Fans will remember that Carol Danvers obtained her powers when exposes to the Tesseract aka the Space Stone in Captain Marvel.
So if she already has that power, presumably five other Avengers need to similarly be exposed to the others, to harness each stone’s abilities.
And with shrinking possible thanks to Ant-Man’s technology, perhaps these six Avengers will shrink down to the size of an Infinity Stone in a new Infinity Gauntlet to reverse the Snap.
But of course, such an action would presumably result in these Avengers’ deaths – foreshadowed in the line “whatever it takes” from the latest trailer.
Our best bet is the six Avengers with harnessed powers will be five of the six originals and Captain Marvel.
While the last OG Avenger – maybe Iron Man – initiates the actual Snap moment.
Of course, Captain Marvel is staying on in the franchise so will presumably survive somehow, or there’s the possibility the six sacrificed will, in fact, be the original six Avengers. Fans should be worried, whatever happens, some of the survivors of Infinity War probably won’t make it out of Endgame alive.
Avengers Endgame is released in UK cinemas on April 25, 2019.
