Fox News host Laura Ingraham has come under fire for mocking slain rapper Nipsey Hussle.
On Friday’s episode of The Ingraham Angle, Ingraham, 55, was shown laughing and grinning while speaking about Hussle’s emotional memorial service that took place just one day before.
“Yesterday in L.A., thousands lined the streets to say goodbye to rapper Nipsey Hussle,” Ingraham began.
“Now this dear artist recently released a song called ‘FDT’ [F—- Donald Trump],” Ingraham continued, airing a clip from the music video.
Unbeknownst to Ingraham, “FDT” is actually a track released by Los Angeles rapper YG from his 2016 album Still Brazy. Hussle is, however, featured on the song.
The clip that she then showed while mocking the late musician was from the music video only shows YG, 29, and not Hussle.
Representatives for FOX News did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.
The incident has since caused an uproar on social media, with many prominent figures in music calling for Ingraham to be fired.
“So lemme tell you what’s going to happen here… @foxnes fires this disrespectful c— by tomorrow, Monday morning or you will lose millions of viewers one person at a time until it drastically effects your ratings, views etc,” The Game wrote on Instagram.
“We are NO LONGER laying quiet while you continuously disrespect our brother, culture African Americans as a whole.”
Snoop Dog, who spoke at Hussle’s memorial, commented “I’m in” on The Game’s post.
T.I. also joined the conversation saying, “This is Disgusting! You both are vile despicable, poor excuses for people. My expectations have already decreased so much for mankind in the past couple weeks that this hardly surprised me… especially from @foxnews.”
Hussle was fatally shot in front of his Los Angeles clothing store, Marathon Clothing Company on March 31. He was 33. Two other men were also shot, though they survived their injuries.
Over 20,000 people gathered in the Staples Center Thursday to pay their respects to the prolific rapper.
During the memorial, Hussle’s longtime girlfriend Lauren London, whom he shared 2-year-old son Kross Asghedom with, emotionally spoke of the love she shared with Hussle, born Ermias Joseph Asghedom.
Beginning her eulogy with a text message she wrote on Jan. 21, London read the loving words she put together for her boyfriend of six years.
“Ermias was asleep one morning and I was watching him because I used to love to watch him sleep and I wrote him a text while he was sleeping so when he woke up he would read it,” said London, who also shared a copy of the text message in the funeral’s pamphlet.
“I want you to know I feel real joy in my heart when I’m around you. I feel safe around you. Protected. Like a shield over me when you’re around, I am totally myself when I’m with you,” London had written. “You’ve made me into more of a woman. You’ve given me an opportunity to really love a man,” she continued.
Hussle was laid to rest the following day at an intimate and private funeral at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Los Angeles.
Eric Holder, 29, has since been charged with Hussle’s murder, as well as two counts of attempted murder and one count of possession of a firearm by a felon, according to a release from the Los Angeles County’s District Attorney’s Office.
On April 4, he entered a plea of not guilty in court. The aspiring rapper could face a maximum sentence of life in state prison if convicted.
