Holby City controversially scrapped for Brexit – but angry fans get good news

Holby City was controversially scrapped on Tuesday night because of Brexit – but there is some good news for fans.

The hospital-based drama was supposed to air on BBC One at 8.00pm, but was shifted because of breaking Brexit news.

Theresa May suffered a catastrophic second Brexit defeat by 149 votes ahead of the vote on No Deal.

Holby City fans were furious because the coverage actually stopped at 7.45pm, which was 15 minutes before the show started.

It was replaced by EastEnders, which was pushed back half an hour, and an episode of Would I Lie To You?.

However, there is a silver lining as there will be TWO episodes of Holby next week.

Fans will get to see last week’s episode on Tuesday and another one on Wednesday.

Holby City’s offical Twitter account tweeted: "BREAKING NEWS! Tonight’s #HolbyCity is postponed due to – ahem – breaking #BrexitVote news. DOUBLE TREAT next week with two Holby episodes – Tues AND Weds See you then!"

Frustrated Holby City fans took to Twitter after discovering there would be no episode airing this week.

One viewer said: "Oh for God’s sake – priorities people – @ BBCHolbyCity is far more important than listening to a group of old windbags who couldn’t organise a p*** up in a brewery

Another added: "B****y disgrace. Could have put it on any BBC channel other than the main one. What is the news channel for????!!!!!"

A third said: "Shocking and unnecessary! It’s at times like this we need to be able to have an hour of immersion in Holby instead of an hour going over the same ground with same argument we’ve all heard before over a vote with a predictable result # BrexitBlues # BringBackHolbyASAP"

The hospital will be in turmoil next week as the protesters grow angrier and they are forced to tighten security.

Fletch has a worrying realisation about Theo’s disappearance – but are there darker forces at play?

Meanwhile Chloe Goddard is unsure about whether staying at Holby City is the right thing for her.

And Dom ends up attacking Evan after a major misunderstanding.

*Holby City airs on BBC One on Tuesday and Wednesday next week at 8pm
