The Chase welcomed not four but five contestants on Tuesday, as an adorable guide dog accompanied Emily in her battle to fight The Beast.
Emily gave an impressive performance against Mark Labbett during the cash builder round, but viewers at home were more distracted by her golden retriever April, who stood by her side.
As they spotted her, fans rushed to gush over how calm April seemed on the busy TV set, despite the glaring studio lights and noisy audience.
One fan wrote: "April (a gorgeous golden retriever) on #TheChase is the star of the show. What a beautiful little woof and so patient to just stand there whilst her owner plays the game. Lovely to see."
While another added: "There is a dog on #TheChase and this is the best thing ever".
A third chipped in: "Best part of today’s show already – that beautiful guide dog #TheChase".
As a fourth added: "God my heart melts whenever I see a guide dog, they’re such special animals."
While April’s TV debut certainly caught fans’ attention, they were also taken aback as another contestant, Matt, looked identical to The Beast.
While Matt didn’t don The Beast’s trademark smart suit, he had a similar haircut and build to the TV quizzing pro.
Theorising that he could even be related to the chaser, whose real name is Mark Labbett, fans flocked in drones to question why Bradley Walsh hadn’t mentioned the pair’s resemblance.
"Are The Chase just ignoring the fact this guys looks like The Beast? #TheChase," one viewer wrote, while another added: "Um, does this first contestant look like he’s related to the beast, or is it just me? #TheChase."
Cab driver Matt not only looked like The Beast, but he also seemed to possess his impressive brainpower, as he flew through the first round without getting a single question wrong.
