Jamie and the Nonnas

Ten, 7.30pm

Jamie Oliver's latest food and travel show is arguably the industry's worst nightmare. After watching Jamie and his former boss and mentor Gennaro Contaldo head into the hills of southern Italy with some market vegetables and foraged herbs, why would anyone shell out their hard-earned dollars on posh nosh at a fancy trattoria? Tonight they're in Basilicata, a region steeped in humble traditions, seemingly untouched by development. Forget those romantic cliches of la dolce vita, or of a food show filled with aspirational kit. From 85-year-old Nonna Theresa's pasta recipe to a shepherd's lamb stew, this is a trip to poor man's cuisine and customs that have miraculously survived the pull of progress. PK
