Here is everything we know about the talented comedian who has landed his own BBC show…
Who is Nish Kumar?
Nish Kumar was born in Wandsworth, London, on August 26, 1985, and studied at the University of Durham.
He was initially part of a double act, Gentlemen of Leisure, alongside Tom Neenan, who he met at university – the duo performed at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2012.
That year, Nish began his solo stand-up career with a debut show titled "Who is Nish Kumar?", which sold out two runs at London's Soho Theatre.
Since then, he has performed four more well-received shows, such as "Ruminations on the Nature of Subjectivity" and "Long word… Long word… Blah Blah Blah… I'm so clever".
Both of those amusingly-titled solo sets were nominated for the Edinburgh Comedy Award, in 2015 and 2016 respectively.
In February 2018 he appeared on the second episode of the 13th series of Live at the Apollo with fellow comedians Luisa Omielan and David O'Doherty.
As well as his live work Nish has also taken the leap into TV and radio, having a regular slot on Josh Widdicombe's Radio X show between 2013 and 2015 entitled "Nishipedia".
The 32-year-old has appeared on TV shows such as Have I Got News For You, Mock the Week, The Alternative Comedy Experience and even Question Time.
In 2017, he appeared on series 5 of Taskmaster alongside Bob Mortimer, Sally Phillips, Mark Watson and Aisling Bea.
