Amal Clooney skips the royal wedding to headline women’s conference in Pennsylvania

Royal watchers were hoping to sight her among the guests, as Britain’s Princess Eugenie wed tequila brand ambassador Jack Brooksbank at St. George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle on Friday.

However Amal Clooney was instead many miles away in the U.S., headlining the Pennsylvania Conference For Women in Philadelphia.

She was pictured taking to the podium hours after the Royal nuptials, buttoned up in a sharp black dress.

Amal and her Hollywood actor husband George had been among the names linked to the Royal wedding, with many noting the connections between the couples.

Eugenie’s new husband Jack, 32, works as a drinks executive for Casamigos tequila, which was founded by Clooney and Cindy Crawford’s husband Rande Gerber.

Indeed Prince Andrew is said to be throwing a lavish party at the Royal Lodge, Windsor, this evening with a drinks menu curated by the groom, including free-flowing tequila from Casamigos.

Earlier this year Amal and George attended Eugenie’s cousin Prince Harry’s wedding to actress Meghan Markle.

While George and Amal couldn’t make it, around 850 guests did watch in the chapel as Eugenie, 28 – who is ninth in line to the throne – was given away by her father Prince Andrew.

The couple’s marriage was watched by around 1,200 members of the public, who were selected by ballot to listen to a live broadcast in the castle grounds, whilst thousands more lined the streets of Windsor to watch the procession outside.

Following the ceremony, Queen Elizabeth is set to host an afternoon reception in St George’s Hall at the castle, whilst an evening party will take place at the York family home, the Royal Lodge, in Windsor Great Park.
