Chris Evans and Zach Braff slam Trump over 'don't be afraid of Covid' tweet

Celebrities such as Chris Evans, Zach Braff and Ava DuVernay have slammed President Donald Trump for claiming people shouldn’t be ‘afraid’ of coronavirus.

Trump stunned followers on Twitter when he revealed he would be leaving hospital on Monday night, just days after it was announced that he had contracted Covid-19.

In a tweet, the 74-year-old stated: ‘I will be leaving the great Walter Reed Medical Center today at 6:30 P.M. Feeling really good!’

He then continued: ‘Don’t be afraid of Covid. Don’t let it dominate your life.

‘We have developed, under the Trump Administration, some really great drugs & knowledge. I feel better than I did 20 years ago!’

His statement immediately received backlash as many called out the President for telling people not to fear the disease, which has killed over one million deaths worldwide.

Captain American star Chris Evans wrote: ‘Don’t be afraid of Covid?! You’ve been under round-the-clock care by the best doctors using the best drugs.

‘Do you really think everyone has access to that?! Sadly, I’m sure you’re aware of that disparity, you just don’t care This is reckless to a shocking degree, even for you.’

While Scrubs star Zach Braff, who lost his close friend Nick Cordero from complications caused by Covid-19, added: ‘A NEGATIVE TEST DOESN’T MEAN YOU’RE NECESSARILY NEGATIVE! NICK TESTED NEGATIVE 3 TIMES.’

He continued: ‘You don’t have covid for the weekend. He either has it and doesn’t give a f**k who gets it from him, or he never had it.’

Frozen star Josh Gad commented: ‘”Don’t be afraid of Covid” America!

‘With a helicopter at your disposal and access to treatments only a President can get, you too will get though this just fine in time to get back to your state of the art in-house medical facility with 24 hour care and the best doctors around!’

While Selma director Ava DuVernay wrote: ‘“Don’t be afraid of Covid” he dares say to those of us who have lost loved ones to Covid. This man is evil.’

And The Masked Singer judge Ken Jeong tweeted: ‘What time will you be bouncing back to the ER?’

Trump’s announcement came amid claims his aides have warned him not to discharge himself from Walter Reed too early after being admitted there on Friday due to testing positive for coronavirus.

Trump is said to fear the hospital stay is making him look ‘weak’ – but White House staffers say his campaign will be badly damaged if his health dips again, and he is forced to return to hospital.
