Duchess Meghan Markle and Prince Harry‘s unborn child will not automatically be called “Prince,” “Princess,” or have an HRH (his or her royal highness) title, unless the Queen steps in.
The tradition was put into place by Prince Harry‘s great-great-grandfather, King George V, who decided to limit certain royal titles. But, the Queen could make an exception, and should she choose to do so, Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan could accept, thus giving their unborn baby a new royal title like cousins Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
