Gareth Southgate has given glowing reviews of England debutants Jadon Sancho and Ben Chilwell.
The Three Lions boss handed out first caps to the pair in the goalless stalemate in Rijeka vs Croatia.
Sancho and Chilwell will have been disappointed their families and friends were unable to attend due to UEFA sanctions on the World Cup finalists meaning the game was played behind closed doors.
But Southgate was delighted with both players’ impact.
"Both very good," Southgate told Sky Sports. "Ben was excellent, his defending was composed.
"He didn’t dive in, his use of the ball was excellent. He should be proud of his performance.
"Jadon had a good impact when he came on."
Southgate insisted the lack of fans did not actually matter to him due to how engrossed he was in the game, and he also highlighted the most pleasing aspects of England’s perfromance.
"It doesn’t actually make a lot of difference to me," Southgate added. "I thought the application of the players though were really good.
"We defended really well, we pressed well. Our build-up was good.
"Second half we were by far the better team, we should have won the game."
