Being a public figure, there’s almost no way for Gigi Hadid to escape the unwelcome criticism of body shamers on the Internet. But thanks to her years of experience in the industry, she now knows how to fight back against those trolls.

Serving on a panel alongside Kendall Jenner, Ashley Graham and Paloma Elsesser at the Vogue Forces of Fashion Event, the model got candid about people who like to slam her weight loss. “I loved my body when I was curvier,” she told Vogue Runway Director Nicole Phelps. “Then as I lost [the weight], people were still mean.”

“Yeah, I know I’m skinny. I’m looking in the mirror. I’m trying to eat burgers and do squats,” the girlfriend of Zayn Malik continued. “I want an a** too. I get it. I got it. Thank you!”

Ashley then chimed in, revealing that she faced similar criticism online. “People feel that they have ownership over your body in society today, and I think that’s ridiculous, because you don’t – my body is mine. I work out because I want to stay healthy, and if I happen to gain 10 pounds or lose 10 pounds, it’s nobody business!”

This isn’t the first time Gigi has spoken out about her changing physique which is infected by her Hashimoto’s disease. In a Harper’s Bazaar interview with Blake Lively back in April, she talked about how being diagnosed with the autoimmune disease had impacted her life.

“When I had a more athletic figure, I was proud of my body because I was an amazing volleyball player and horseback rider. But after discovering that I have Hashimoto’s, I needed to eat healthy and work out,” she shared. “It was weird as a teenager, dealing with this when all of my friends could eat McDonald’s and it wouldn’t affect them.”

Even though she admitted that she wanted to get her booty and boobs back, she still loves her current body. “Whoever is reading this, I want you to realize that three years from now you will look back at a picture from this time period and be like, ‘Wow, I was so hot. Why did I feel so bad about myself because of some stupid thing someone said?’ ” she continued.
