Dan Walker, 44, has responded to negative criticism on Twitter after posting his pre-Strictly performance video. The BBC Breakfast star admits that he knows he is favourite to go home but still intends “enjoy every minute of it” of his time on the show.

I’m not worried about that.

Dan posted a selfie video on Twitter to his 728,000 followers before his performance on Strictly tonight.

His post was met with a lot of support in the comments, however there were some negative comments towards the journalist.

Paul86002225 said: “Oh no another day of Dan tweeting about Dan.

“Lots of pictures and videos of him telling us all how wonderful he is.”

Dan, in response to his own video tweeted: “And I know I’m the favourite to go home… I am every week.

“I’m not worried about that.

“He added: “My family are loving it, my friends can’t believe it and the support is incredible.

“Also… I’m learning something amazing, from someone amazing… I intend to enjoy every minute.”

He captioned his original video, demonstrating his excitement for being part of the BBC show.

He wrote: “Week 6 of #Strictly tonight… and we’re still in it!

“You lot have been incredible. I’ve had so many wonderful conversations with people who love the show.

Dan added: “You can see our jive tonight- and all the other amazing dances – from 710 on BBC1.” (sic)

Fans lept to the comments to make sure Dan knew how well he was doing on the show.

Sharon_RAROC said: “You are truly what Strictly is all about.

“A complete non dancer, improving every week and having the times of their lives. Best of luck and have a great night.”

Darlotoon added: “You put your heart and soul into every dance, you can see how hard you are training and pushing yourself so no matter what happens you should be proud!” (sic)

Dan’s odds have fallen from 11/2 to 9/2 to be eliminated from Strictly Come Dancing this week.

He is now just below Loose Women’s Judi Love as the next celebrity dancer to be sent home.

Dan and Nadiya Bychkova’s Viennese Waltz to Billy Joel’s She’s Always a Woman scored 28 last week.

The news broadcaster revealed that the song was a favourite of his beloved wife Sarah, dedicating his performance to her.

Dan said to Claudia Winkleman on the night: “Sarah thankfully is here tonight, you saw her come to training this week. I’m going to gush over her for the moment.

Strictly Come Dancing airs tonight on BBC One at 7.10pm.
