Louise Redknapp celebrates Christmas Day with her family

Louise Redknapp, 45, shared that she had tried to begin meditating during lockdown to help control her anxiety. However, the ex-wife of footballer Jamie Redknapp found the process difficult, as she found herself wondering if she would ever work again.

Am I ever going to get a job again?

Louise discussed with fellow Strictly Come Dancing alum Sophie Ellis Bextor the benefits of meditation while appearing on the latter’s Spinning Plates podcast, the Eternal singer said: “It’s finding your own form of meditating, I have tried so many times to meditate and I sit there, and I think, ‘Am I meditating?’.

“No, I’m thinking about, ‘What I need to buy at the store? What am I going to do for dinner? Who needs to be picked up from where? Am I ever going to get a job again?’”

After competing on Strictly Come Dancing in 2016, the singer went on to make her mark in a production of Cabaret before performing in Dolly Parton’s 9 to 5 last year.

However before the show could complete its run, theatres were forced to close owing to the coronavirus pandemic.

Louise admitted that going into a national lockdown left her “really panicked” as her theatre career was only just beginning to take-off.

The star recalled: “At the beginning of lockdown I was really panicked, I finished…I was three nights into a tour. I was back in a run at The Savoy (theatre) for 9 to 5.

“So I was really going (places), I was like, ‘Ok I’m taking off, this is happening’ and then it all just stopped.

She added: “I think it took me three weeks to stop having a major panic attack, about what is happening here.”

Louise split from her long-term love and father of her two children, Jamie, in 2017 and has since spoken out on the difficulty of family life.

She confessed in an interview with Stella Magazine that she put everyone before herself while married to the former footballer.

Louise said: “I have spent most of my life pleasing everyone else, worrying about being judged and thinking I should always do the right thing by staying at home, looking after my kids and my husband. I lost myself.

“I didn’t want to continue running around after everyone else, and occasionally promoting a yoghurt or doing a little TV presenting job.

Although the former couple now appears to be on good terms, as Jamie revealed that co-parenting was going “well” during lockdown.

He told the Mirror: “I’m sharing the kids with Louise, which has worked out really well.

“Homeschooling has not been easy though, and my respect level for teachers has gone through the roof.”

Meanwhile, Louise has a self-help book coming out this year that is described as a “love-letter” to fans.

Louise typed on Twitter: “My new book ‘You Got This’ is out in March 2021 and available to pre-order now on Amazon!

“It’s a little bit of a love letter to anyone who has ever wondered if they’re getting it right in life… you got this x.
