HRVY, who regularly gushes over Maisie in his weekly column with OK! online, will surely be mortified to know he’s not the only one with eyes for the stunning EastEnders star. Instead, she reveals she’s had a few cheeky messages on social media from lads who have been just as impressed by her moves!

Here, she tells new all about them, reveals her dreams of being the “first ginger Wonder Woman” and reveals which of the EastEnders cast she thinks should be next up on the dance floor…

So Maisie, what’s the latest with HRVY?

I was expecting these romance rumours from day one. I’m 19, he’s 21, we’re both single, so I feel like it was inevitable – but we’re just good pals at the moment. When I commented on his Instagram – I literally said he looked like spaghetti – everyone went mad calling me a flirt! I’m enjoying getting to know him, we definitely have a connection, but we’re just friends.

Is there anyone else on the scene?

There’s been a couple of boys sliding into my DMs! People saw me shake my hips on the samba and it tickled a couple of feathers! So I’ve had a couple of people message me…

Anyone we’d know?

Ooh, I couldn’t say. I’ve had messages from a couple of footballers, but I can’t say who – it wouldn’t be fair. But to be honest, with Strictly and lockdown, I’m not dating. I love being single, I’m finding happiness within myself and it’s taken me a long time to do that. I’m trying to focus on that before I open up to someone else.

Wise words. You look fantastic by the way. Have you noticed any changes to your body since you started training for the show?

I’ve put on weight! I make dinners at the weekend to last the whole week and I eat them within two days. The gyms are closed and I’m a gym freak – that’s where I feel happiest – but I don’t feel like I’m lacking. In the first lockdown I struggled without the gym, but this time around I haven’t felt that. I’m getting so strong every day. And dancing is the most fun!

How have you managed to juggle your hectic Strictly schedule around EastEnders?

I’m not overly busy with my schedules at the moment, which is handy with the amount of training I’ve had to do, but they’ve all been so supportive. So many of the cast have done Strictly before, so I’ve had a lot of support and encouragement and advice. Jake Wood, Natalie Cassidy, Emma Barton, they all just told me to have fun. I’m way too competitive with myself. They keep reminding me not to get down if I’m not performing to absolute perfection. But knowing the cast that have done it already, there was a lot to live up to! I haven’t wanted to let anyone down.

Which EastEnder should do Strictly next?

Zack Morris, my onscreen partner [who plays Keegan Baker], would be amazing. He’s so, so talented and he’s loved watching me on the show. I know deep down he’d love to do it and I would love to see him on the dance floor next year.

Can you see yourself staying on the Square long term?

I’m definitely planning to stay in EastEnders for a bit longer, for sure. I’m loving the wonderful storylines they’re giving me – I’m really challenging myself every month with my acting when it comes to what my character has gone through. I’m loving being on the show, but in the future I want to be a Marvel superhero. I’m ready for it! Give it a few years and I‘ll be the first ginger Wonder Woman.

Your mum Julia’s a big hit on TikTok thanks to her moves! How do you think she’d fare on Strictly?

Oh, she’s an icon and Strictly is so up her street. She’s convinced she’ll be on the show next year and so am I! She’s so sassy – she’s got more sass than me. In fact, she’s where I get it from. She’s just fire, that woman. And she’d kill it on the show. She’d be getting 10s every week for sure.

Have you found it difficult being apart from your family during the show?

We live like an hour and a half away, so it’s not like I can go and sit in front of their door for an hour and chat, but we FaceTime constantly. When they were watching in the audience they stayed in a hotel, so they could come by and sit at the end of my driveway talking. I didn’t expect to miss them so much. I’d spent the whole of the first lockdown with my family, so I thought I’d be fine to have a bit of separation. But the truth is, I didn’t realise how much I really need them in my life. I’ve missed them and I can’t wait to spend more time with them, but Strictly was always the sacrifice I was willing to make.
