Despite London currently being in a Tier 4 restriction and travel only being allowed for work, Piers Morgan's son Spencer has flown to Barbados to ring in New Year's.

The sports journalist, who put on a cosy display with Lottie Tomlinson in July, took to Instagram to share a snap of himself on holiday.

In the picture, the 27 year old is standing topless with just a pair of blue swimming trunks and some dark shades.

Captioning the post, he wrote: "The hotel quarantine Christmas was worth it. Farewell to an absolute shambles of a year."

However, fans were left divided over Spencer's decision to fly abroad and took to the comments section to share their views.

One person expressed: "Tone deaf as usual," while a second added: "Another morgan breaking the law."

A loyal follower rushed to Spencer's defence and passionately said: "Does it even matter if his father is there? I think not!

He shared statistics of the Covid-19 survival rates on his page, and wrote: "Criminal that such a large portion of the general public have been tricked into being terrified of contracting this thing."

Piers, who praised his Good Morning Britain co-star Susanna Reid, completely opposed his son's views and said: "Once again, I remind you it's not about healthy people like you getting it… but who you/they give it to, as we are now seeing in rapidly rising & very worrying numbers in the UK."

Not taking his dad's response lying down, Spencer shot back: "Nothing to do with the point I was making. Wake up Piers."
