Pippa Middleton and husband James Matthews have welcomed their first child.
Pippa, 35, gave birth to a boy in the Lindo Wing of St. Mary’s Hospital in West London on Monday afternoon. He arrived weighing 8 pounds, 9 ounces.
St. Mary’s is the same hospital where her older sister, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, delivered her children.
Unlike other high-profile moms, Pippa kept well-wishers and supporters abreast of her pregnancy through a column for Waitrose.
“I was lucky to pass the 12-week scan without suffering from morning sickness,” she wrote in an early post about her pregnancy. “That meant I was able to carry on as normal.”
And carry on she did. Over the last several months, paparazzi captured the British socialite running errands, shopping around town and heading to the gym.
In another column about her third trimester, Pippa shared that swimming has been her favorite exercise as it gives her a feeling of “weightlessness.”
“As the months pass, you feel heavier by the day, but being in water gives that floating, light-as-air feeling that soothes and relieves the body, counteracts increased back strain and stretches the legs from the growing bump,” she said. “It’s non-impact, gentle and relaxing.”
In her final month, the new mom emphasized the importance of stretching and meditation, which she practiced twice daily for 20 minutes throughout her pregnancy.
She also worked in much-needed rest with James, 43, in late August.
The pair, who tied the knot in May 2017, took a babymoon to luxury Italian resort Il Pellicano in Tuscany — where suites start at $1,000 a night.
