Roseanne tweets after ‘The Conners’ premiere: ‘I ain’t dead, bitches!!!!’

Roseanne Conner may have been killed off — but Roseanne Barr isn’t going to play dead.

The comedienne lashed out in anger Tuesday on Twitter a short time after ABC aired “The Conners” — a spin off of her hit show “Roseanne” that was created after Barr was fired for making a racist tweet earlier this year.

“I AIN’T DEAD, BITCHES!!!!” she tweeted a hour and a half after the episode , in which Barr’s character, which she had played since the 1980s, was killed off in an accidental opiod overdose.

In a more measured statement released later Tuesday, Barr said she “regrets” ABC canceled the series and killed her character in “an unnecessarily grim and morbid dimension to an otherwise happy family show.”

ABC was unwilling to accept her apology for the tweet linking former Obama aide Valerie Jarrett, who is African American, to “The Planet of the Apes,” she said, “thereby denying the twin American values of both repentance and forgiveness.”

“The cancellation of Roseanne is an opportunity squandered due in equal parts to fear, hubris, and a refusal to forgive,” the statement said.

Barr said she knew her character wouldn’t be written off gently in an interview last month, where she slammed ABC, saying Roseanne’s end insulted the fans “who loved that family in that show.”

Despite that, she had appeared to have resigned herself to the character’s end saying, “There’s nothing I can do about it. It’s done. It’s over.”

Still, she also said she wanted to be out of the country, in Israel, when “The Conners” aired and vowed she would be “staying away from it,” and remaining”neutral” in another interview.

“I don’t want to be around, because I, you know, I’ll get drawn into a negative thing of defending myself or being angry for being mischaracterized,” she said.

It’s unclear where Barr’s Tuesday evening tweet was sent from.
