TALK OF THE TOWN: Damien Hirst's partner, 27, in baby bump prank

TALK OF THE TOWN: Messages of congratulations began piling in but did artist Damien Hirst see the funny side of partner Sophie’s pregnancy prank?

Since splitting from the mother of his three children in 2012, artist Damien Hirst has dated a succession of women half his age in a bid – we presumed – to avoid having to settle into a serious commitment with someone who wanted marriage and babies.

So imagine his surprise when his partner, Sophie Cannell, 27, exhibited a growing baby bump last week.

It was only after messages of congratulations began piling in that Sophie (right) admitted it was a stunt

It was only after messages of congratulations began piling in that Sophie admitted it was a stunt and the bump was the product of a large lunch and a ‘great talent’ for blowing her stomach out.

I saw the funny side, but I wonder if Damien did too?

George Osborne’s fine bromance

I’m sure most men would love a man-cave to escape to – the only trouble for George Osborne is that someone has already nabbed his.

Fortunately, George Osborne has formed a ‘bromance’ with kindly widower Malcolm Hord

Fortunately, Osborne has formed a ‘bromance’ with Hord, a kindly widower in his 70s.

A source tells me: ‘Malcolm built a little cottage for himself then put the property on the market.’ George and partner Thea Rogers don’t seem to mind.

The local adds: ‘It’s all good-natured. Malcolm and George adore each other.’

Not for Jacob Rees-Mogg the usual beach attire of swimming shorts and flip-flops – he was spotted soaking up the sun in Greece last week in a suit and tie!

The father-of-six and Commons Leader was recharging his batteries ahead of the hurly-burly of the Conservative Party conference and splashed out on a suite of rooms for his brood at the smart Four Seasons Astir Palace in Athens, where prices start at about £800 a night.

Not for Jacob Rees-Mogg the usual beach attire of swimming shorts and flip-flops – he was spotted soaking up the sun in Greece last week in a suit and tie!

Says my spy: ‘He was reclining on a sunlounger in a suit, tie, dress shirt and leather shoes.’

Well, one can’t let one’s standards slip!
