The record-breaking, Oscar-winning, Freddie Mercury biopic has seen its four-week reign at No 1 in the Official Film Chart end this week. Harry Potter spin-off Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald has taken No 1 in its debut week as a home release, pushing Bohemian Rhapsody down to No 2. While the critically-panned Robin Hood enters the chart at No 3. And fan favourites The Greatest Showman and Avengers Infinity War both moved up a spot.
The Official Film Chart Top 10 as of March 27, 2019
1. Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald
2. Bohemian Rhapsody
3. Robin Hood
4. The Grinch
5. A Star Is Born
7. Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them/The Crimes of Grindelwald
8. The Greatest Showman
9. Avengers Infinity War
Nevertheless, Bohemian Rhapsody’s four-week reign was an impressive feat.
Last week it outsold the rest of the Top 5 in total combined sales.
And earlier this month the Freddie Mercury biopic broke The Greatest Showman’s home release record.
The film sold almost half a million discs in its first week of physical release and over 388,000 digital sales in its first four weeks in the chart.
In terms of total sales though, Bohemian Rhapsody had sold 853,000 copies to The Greatest Showman’s 845,500 in the same month-long time frame.
Bohemian Rhapsody made almost $900 million worldwide from cinema ticket sales.
That’s an impressive profit for a film that cost only $52 million to make.
Bohemian Rhapsody is out now on DVD, Blu-ray, 4K Ultra HD and digital download.
