Joker trailer: Did you SPOT Batman in Joaquin Phoenix teaser? Who plays young Batman?

Joker’s first trailer has landed online and DC Comics fans have a lot to look forward to. The origin stars Joaquin Phoenix as Arthur Fleck, a clown turned criminal. The actual story of the Joker’s transformation is far more detailed than that, and the upcoming film seeks to capitalise on this change.

Did you spot a young Batman?

The character is only in the teaser for a split second, but he’s there.

Who plays the young Bruce Wayne?

A young Bruce Wayne is played by Dante Pereira-Olson.

Olson previously worked with Phoenix in You Were Never Really Here.

Within the Joker movie, the young Bruce Wayne is yet to be orphaned.

And unlike its source material, Bruce Wayne’s father plays an integral role in the creation of Joker.

For the film, Thomas Wayne, Bruce’s father, is played by Brett Cullen (Ghost Rider).

Thomas Wayne is a billionaire philanthropist running for mayor of Gotham.

The politician also appears briefly in the trailer, in a TV spot for his mayoral campaign.

Will Ben Affleck be in the Joker movie?

No, Affleck has retired from the DC Comics extended universe at Warner Bros.

Not to mention the Joker film takes place long before Bruce Wayne becomes Batman as we know him.

Warner Bros’ official synopsis for the movie reads: “Joker centres around the iconic arch-nemesis and is an original, standalone story not seen before on the big screen.

“The exploration of Arthur Fleck, a man disregarded by society, is not only a gritty character study, but also a broader cautionary tale.”

One fan cited a now deleted set photo as proof of a rather wild plot direction for the Joker film.

Warning, potential spoilers below.

On the now deleted post, the fan wrote: “From set: Arthur is Thomas Wayne’s son.

“Thomas had an affair with Arthur’s mother, so yes he’s Bruce’s half-brother.”

They added: “First off, Thomas is in his mid 60’s, Arthur is in his late 30’s early 40’s, more than possible for him to be the bastard son.

“It definitely explains why he’s after him specifically.

“So there you have it, Arthur is related to the Wayne family in this original origin film, and it explains his hatred and attacks towards Thomas.”

There has been no confirmation of this leak-cum-supposition.

Joker also stars Zazie Beetz (Deadpool 2), Frances Conroy (American Horror Story), Marc Maron (GLOW), Bill Camp (Red Sparrow), Glenn Fleshler (Billions), Shea Whigham (Kong: Skull Island), Brett Cullen (Narcos), Douglas Hodge (Penny Dreadful) and Josh Pais (Motherless Brooklyn.

Joker will be out in cinemas on October 4, 2019
