X-Men and Deadpool in the Marvel Cinematic Universe could come sooner than expected

Deadpool is doing just fine on his own – the X-Men not so much – but wouldn’t it be nice if every Marvel hero fell under the Marvel Cinematic Universe banner?

It would certainly be easier, anyway.

Well, fortunately, with Disney’s mega-deal with Fox looming ever-closer, it seems Deadpool and X-Men titles could soon well be under the prestigious wing of Disney and Marvel Studios.

According to a report in Variety, the arrival of Wade Wilson and his mutant friends in the MCU could be coming sooner than expected, as Fox is believed to be “logistically ready” for a closed deal as early as January 1, 2019.

It’s reported that the structure of the so-called New Fox will be ready to go by the new year, meaning the process of bringing the Marvel heroes home to the MCU could soon follow.

This latest development sounds far more positive than Kevin Feige’s earlier insistence that any crossover between the Avengers and X-Men would take “years”.

Speaking earlier this year, the Marvel Studios boss explained that any X-involvement would happen after Marvel’s Phase Four.

“It won’t impact the five movies we’ve announced, and it probably wouldn’t impact anything for a handful of years after that,” he said. “Because really, we’re not thinking about that.”

We hope you are now, Kevin.

Deadpool 2 is out now on DVD, Blu-ray and digital download.
