Louis Tomlinson has revealed he has ‘parted ways’ with Simon Cowell’s record label after 10 years.
The Walls hitmaker made the announcement on Twitter, as he explained he’s excited to get back to the studio and start working on his next album.
‘Hope everyone is doing ok!’ he wrote. ‘Just wanted to let you know that Syco Music and I have agreed to part ways.
‘I’m really excited for the future and to be back in the studio writing the next album. Can’t wait to finally see you all on tour!!
‘Stay safe and see you soon, Louis x’.
Metro.co.uk has contacted reps for Simon Cowell/SyCo for comment.
Louis has been with SyCo since One Direction formed on the X Factor back in 2010.
The star follows the likes of Little Mix, who left the label in 2018 after winning the X Factor in 2011, and Louisa Johnson, who also left in 2018 after her win on the show in 2015.
Louis released his debut album Walls earlier this year after One Direction began their hiatus back in 2015.
With the 28-year-old opening up about the loss of his mum and sister on the album, his former bandmate Niall Horan had high praise for the record.
Speaking to Zane Lowe on Apple Music’s New Music Daily, Niall said: ‘He’s got a great bulk of songs and it’s going to do well this weekend.
‘He obviously went through a horrific time, family-wise or, life-wise, but the fact that he got to turn that on its head and, and write about it … and, you know, make it what is going to be a successful album out of it as well sheds some light on it.’
The former Directioner supported his friend’s decision in taking his time to create his debut album, explaining that Louis needed to ‘go through that cycle’.
He continued: ‘As everyone keeps pointing out to him for some reason, everyone else is on their second album.
‘I mean that must be hard to listen to. You have to go through that cycle. If you don’t know what it sounds like, you need to find it. But this is the kind of stuff that he listens to anyway, so it all makes sense.’
