Maisie Williams has revealed that she bonded with newly-married couple Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker over their love of punk band Sex Pistols.

Maisie, 25, made an appearance on The Tonight Show on Wednesday (18 May) her new mini-series Pistol about the iconic British punk group.

The Game of Thrones star told host Jimmy Fallon that she met the newlyweds at the Met Gala and the trio instantly clicked.

Maisie said that the couple were sat next to her, and she tried to figure out how to break the ice with them.

"I was on a table with Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker," she revealed, as Fallon said, "They're fun."

Maisie added: "I needed to, like, have an in to the conversation, have something to say, something interesting for them to know."

She realised that the couple's outfits had been inspired by notorious Sex Pistols bassist Sid Vicious and his girlfriend Nancy Spungen, and knew that they had something in common.

Maisie is starring in the upcoming drama series Pistol as Jordan Mooney, a friend of the band.

She said: "So then my thought was, "I'm in a show and Sid and Nancy are in that show. And I'm in it too, and so hi."

Kourtney and Travis responded: "'Great! We can't wait to watch it,'" revealed Maisie.

"And then that was it. We were best friends."

The six-episode series began principal photography in March, with Trainspotting director Danny Boyle serving as director and executive producer.

It is based on band member Steve Jones’ memoirs and follows the group’s rise to fame.

Maisie's real-life character, punk icon Jordan Mooney, real name Pamela Rooke, died in her home town of Seaford surrounded by family on Sunday, April 3.

Meanwhile, Sex Pistols are re-issuing their once-banned 1977 No2 hit God Save The Queen to mark the Platinum Jubilee.

Some 4,000 copies of the punk anthem will be re-released through Virgin, and 1977 copies of the rare A&M version will also be available.

Pistol is available in the UK on Disney+ from Tuesday 31st May
