Sex Pistols' John Lydon claims he'd be 'daft as a brush' not to vote for Trump

Sex Pistols star John Lydon has once again thrown his support behind Donald Trump.

The 64-year-old former punk pioneer – known as Johnny Rotten – lives in the US and has confirmed he’ll be voting for the current president, despite previously supporting Hillary Clinton in 2016, and Barack Obama in the past.

Speaking to The Guardian, he insisted he supports Trump because of the economy, and claimed he’s ‘the only sensible choice’.

Asked if he’d be voting for the president, he said: ‘I’d be daft as a brush not to. He’s the only sensible choice now that Biden is up – he’s incapable of being the man at the helm.’

Lydon made similar comments last week, insisting while Trump isn’t ‘the most lovable fellow’ in the world, he feels he’s the only option.

He told BBC NewsDay: ‘He’s an individual thinker, I’ll give him that for a start.

‘He’s not the most lovable fellow on God’s earth, but I cannot see the opposition as offering me anything by way of a solution…

‘It’s bad person or not. I don’t want a politician running this world anymore.’

It’s clear Lydon has changed his stance on Trump over the past four years though, as back in 2016 he didn’t expect the former businessman to end up winning that year’s election and getting into the Oval Office.

‘No! I can’t see it happening’, he told in April that same year. ‘It’s a minority at best that support him, and it’s so hateful and ignorant.

‘I agree with the basic principle that we’re all fed up with politicians, but you can’t replace them with businessmen, which is surely the more corrupt form.

‘It’s deeply ironic and sad that people resort to running to a businessman – and one who is famous for managing to bankrupt a casino/hotel. How do you do that? Surely it’s the biggest money earner in the world!

‘But people still can’t see the wood for the trees there. Everything instinctively tells me that he is a wrong’un – and I think he’s just one short temper away from World War Three, that fella!’
