Hollywood has been almost entirely shut down due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and strict stay-at-home orders, but it looks like production is about to start on several television shows and movies.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, California Governor Gavin Newsom has said production can resume after June 12, 2020—subject to approval. Per a statement from the Department of Public Health:
They added, “To reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission, productions, cast, crew and other industry workers should abide by safety protocols agreed by labor and management, which may be further enhanced by county public health officers.
It’s unclear what these safety protocols will look like, but according to The Hollywood Reporter, Tyler Perry’s Atlanta studios were among the first to release a proposal for getting production started. Among other measures, the cast of Sistas and The Oval will be getting COVID-19 tests before traveling to set, will self isolate for a full 16 days, will travel on private jets, and will be tested again as soon as they touch down.
