Brainwashed soldier Bucky Barnes (played by Sebastian Stan) has finally escaped his dark past as the mysterious assassin known as the Winter Soldier. However, his latest adventures with Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) and Baron Zemo (Daniel Brühl) in Marvel’s brand new series for Disney+ may have landed him in hot water.
Bucky Barnes unleashing his old identity as the Winter Soldier in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’s latest episode may come back to haunt him.
During episode three, ‘Power Broker’, Bucky and Sam form an uneasy alliance with a former enemy of the Avengers, Baron Helmut Zemo.
After breaking the Sokovian terrorist out of prison, the unlikely trio travel to Madripoor, a city-island run by powerful criminals, to seek the mysterious Power Broker.
In order to keep their cover, Bucky masquerades as Zemo’s bodyguard and once again assumes his Winter Soldier persona.
Unfortunately, trouble rears its head in the Princess Bar, and the cyborg super soldier is forced to take action.
When a bar fight breaks out, Zemo insists the only way to escape capture is if Bucky once again embodies his old self, and takes down a group of attacking thugs in the most brutal way possible.
Making sure his signature metal arm and violent combat tactics are on full display, Bucky makes quick work of the suspicious bar patrons.
However, their quick escape could have disastrous repercussions in the long term after the fight appeared to be captured on camera.
If word gets out that Bucky has once again been brainwashed by Zemo, even if the rumours are inaccurate, his pardon from the US government could be reversed.
Plus, the second episode of the series has already proven the unreliable super soldier is liable to get arrested if he so much as misses one of his court mandated therapy sessions.
Now Bucky has struck up a partnership with Baron Zemo, albeit with the best intentions, his reckless actions in Madripoor could come back to bite him.
Following The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’s latest release, fans took to Reddit to speculate what could happen to Steve Rogers’ (Chris Evans) old friend over the rest of the series.

One fan noted: “A lady with a cellphone filmed the Winter Soldier in action in the Madripoor bar. That will come back to haunt them.”
While another viewer suggested Bucky’s therapist, Dr. Raynor (Amy Aquino), will certainly have some strong words for her patient if the footage is leaked.
They added: “Saw that. Very concerned for Bucky. I foresee some awkward chats with the Doc.”
His actions in Madripoor are especially worrying considering Raynor has enforced a ‘no-violence’ rule on Bucky, even in times of crisis.
Not only did he break one of his most important creeds, Bucky is coming dangerously close to being outed as one of the world’s deadliest mercenaries.
If the world starts to believe the Winter Soldier is once again at large, he may be forced to go into hiding to avoid being captured or manipulated yet again.
With most fans predicting Sam Wilson/Falcon will eventually assume the mantle of Captain America, is Bucky doomed to live the rest of his life on the run from the law?
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier continues Fridays on Disney+.
