Celebrity Hunted lineup as Kay Burley and Vicky Pattison take on Hunters

Kay Burley has her toughest challenge yet as she stars in the new series of Celebrity Hunted.

The Sky News anchor teamed up with Tory MP Johnny Mercer to go on the run in a charity version of the show for Stand Up To Cancer.

The duo, along with Vicky Pattison, Dom Joly, Louis Smith and AJ Pritchard, will appear on the series, which will air on Channel 4 on 16 October.

The mother-of-one, 57, spent two weeks as a fugitive as she attempted to hide from a group of ‘hunters’, made of former police and intelligence officers.

She filmed the show in July, with Hunted HQ seen appealing for members of the public to contact them on Twitter if they saw the duo in Plymouth – where her partner Johnny is an MP.

In a recent interview, Kay admitted it was difficult to remain out of contact with her friends and family for so long while in hiding.

She wrote in You magazine : "I learned to appreciate the little things that make everyday life easier and more bearable, while coping without home comforts such as crisp, clean sheets or a G&T – and my family and friends, who it was too risky to contact while on the run."

During her experience, she admitted hiding in "dark corners, sleeping fitfully on a cliff face and taking part in a slow-speed motorway chase in a bread van" to evade capture.

Meanwhile, Johnny had to apologise to parliament after his participation in the reality show meant he missed several sessions.

He said in a statement during filming: "Every year I use the immensely privileged position of being a Member of Parliament to raise money for charity.

"This year I am taking part in Hunted which is for Stand Up To Cancer. I am acutely aware of my parliamentary duties and have incorporated these into filming."

Kay took part because the charity is close to heart having lost her mother, aunt and grandmother to the disease.

She also lost three friends to cancer in the six weeks leading up to filming the show.

Celebrity Hunted, part of the Stand Up To Cancer campaign, will air on Channel 4 from Tuesday 16th October at 9:15pm.
