Coronation Street legend Charlie Lawson is facing legal action after business went bust | The Sun

CORONATION Street legend Charlie Lawson faces legal action and is being chased for thousands of pounds after his posh deli went bust.

The soap star's shop in Prestbury, Cheshire, closed in 2018 with outstanding debts of £37,000.

Now legal action is being prepared against Charlie, 63, to recoup a massive sum owed to the firm which liquidated the deli.

A document seen by the Mail reads: "During the period of this report, no further monies have been received in respect of the payment of the costs of Liquidation.

"To date, the sum of £33,160 has been paid in this regard and the balance of £1,340 is being pursued.

"As a response has not been received from the guarantor, solicitors have been instructed to collect the amount owed."

The bust deli also owes cash to wine suppliers, a turkey farm, an energy firm and companies in France.

Charlie, who played Jim McDonald in Coronation Street, opened Prestbury's Farm Shop with his partner Debbie Stanley in 2010.

But when the deli went bust in 2018, it only had £24.91 in the bank and £700 in assets.

The actor declared himself bankrupt in 2001 after owing nearly £200,000 to the Inland Revenue and finance firms.
