Coronation Street night shoot gets interrupted by The Voice UK filming

Coronation Street actress Sue Cleaver has shared that a recent night shoot she was involved with was interrupted by another show’s filming – and that show was none other than The Voice UK.

Telling the tale via social media, the actress – who portrays Eileen Grimshaw on the soap – explained that Corrie‘s production team spent the majority of the night battling it out with The Voice UK‘s team.

“ITV and BBC battling it out. We’re trying to film a night shoot on Cobbles & They are trying to film exerts for The Voice,” Sue shared on Twitter. “Can’t hear myself talk over the music and booming presenter.”

Of course, a couple of years back The Voice UK jumped from the BBC to ITV, which is something Sue later acknowledged in a follow-up tweet.

“Apparently The Voice on ITV we’ve shot ourselves. Blue on Blue,” she added.

And for those left wondering what “blue on blue” means, it’s a military term that relates to an attack made by your own side that accidentally harms your own forces. Very apt here, we’d say.

So what we’re taking away from this is don’t be surprised if you hear Emma Willis’ voice pop up the next time Coronation Street shows a scene filmed at night – and maybe we can expect to see Eileen Grimshaw pop up in the background of The Voice UK too.

Last month, The Voice UK confirmed its 2019 judging line-up, which includes returning favourites Sir Tom Jones, Olly Murs, Jennifer Hudson and will.i.am.

Both The Voice UK and Coronation Street have recently been named on the National Television Awards longlist, but former Corrie star Shayne Ward has shared his sadness after being snubbed for a nomination following his character Aidan Connor’s devastating suicide storyline.

“It’s always a blessing to be put forward for a nomination And Im always humbled. But to have not even been considered for Best Serial Drama Performance for Aidan’s suicide has really hurt me,” he wrote on Twitter.

“No nod for @RichardHawley1 too Lost for words.”

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays on ITV.
