Corrie's Antony Cotton reveals huge storyline for Sean as he signs new contract

Coronation Street’s Antony Cotton has hinted at a new storyline for his character Sean Tully as he signs a new contract to stay on the show.

Playing Sean Tully since 2003, Antony will continue working on the ITV soap for the next year.

From homelessness to his many love interests, Sean’s life has been full of drama, and things aren’t set to stop anytime soon.

‘I’ve just signed a new contract. I’ve always said that if they’re happy for me to be there, I’m happy to be there. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’, Antony told the Daily Star Sunday.

‘I feel that even more nowadays because some work is thin on the ground. I am very lucky to be in a job and Corrie is like a giant family. It feels nice to go to work with people that you know and love.

‘I’ve known a lot of them for the past 18 years. I adore people there like they’re my own family.

‘For the past 19 years, I’ve never wanted to say goodbye to that.’

It’s well known that due to the pandemic, Coronation Street and other soaps weren’t able to air specific storylines due to things like filming restrictions, or the two-metre distance rule.

As we start to see more scenes with actors in close contact, filming restrictions are slowly starting to ease, which means a revisit to those storylines that couldn’t go ahead:

‘I have a very big, dramatic storyline that I am hoping we can now pick up and do properly. We are getting back into the swing of things now, so I am looking forward to the next year.

‘I am hoping 12 months from now things will be completely back to normal.’

Most recently, Sean was tricked into being a party of a pyramid scheme called ‘Double Glammy’.

He convinced Daisy (Charlotte Jordan) to start selling the dodgy make-up products, but he saw the reality of the damage a scheme like Double Glammy can do when old friend Carol – who was also trying to sell the products – wasn’t able to pay her rent.
