OLYMPIAN Kye Whyte is hoping to ride to victory on the Dancing On Ice.
The athlete, who won a silver medal at the Tokyo 2020 games in the BMX racing, joins a raft of stars including former Strictly Come Dancing professional Brendan Cole in the line up.
Kye, 22, was handed the nickname the Prince of Peckham after his success at the games and insiders said he hoped to replicate this on the ice.
A source said: “Ice skating is out of Kye’s comfort zone but as a professional athlete he is trained to challenge and push himself beyond his limits.
“Kye has a competitive edge and is going to give everything he has to the show.”
As well as joining Brendan on this year’s line-up, Kye will also be skating alongside Coronation Street’s Sally Dynevor and Happy Mondays singer Bez – who The Sun exclusively revealed had signed up to the ITV show earlier this week.
Rugby player Ben Foden, Love Island babe Liberty Poole and Regan Gascoigne have also confirmed they are taking part in the competition.
After picking up a medal in Tokyo Kye returned to Peckham, South London, where he was welcomed back like royalty.
The inspirational sportsman has helped to inspire huge numbers of stars getting into BMX biking but said he didn’t see himself as any different despite his success.
Kye said: “I still see myself as the same as everyone else, I don’t see myself as better than anyone else, I just know how to ride a bike.
“Obviously, outside of that I am a professional athlete and kids look up to that, so I have to live up to that as well and set a good example, especially kids from Peckham.”
