Dancing On Ice’s Dan Whiston says cast has been ’emotional’ since Phillip Schofield came out as gay

This week our celebrities were taking on different styles of dance, from disco, to jazz, to Morris Dancing, we had it all going on.

Joe Swash is going from strength to strength, and this week he performed his strongest routine yet! He brought the disco to the ice, performing an over the head back flip with his partner Alex Murphy.

Considering they’ve only been skating together for a couple of weeks, they are developing a really strong partnership. I think he’s the dark horse of the competition and could be one to watch.

Yet again Libby Clegg amazed me this week. She hadn’t skated for an entire week due to illness but you’d never have known it as she put on such a confident, sultry, sexy performance.

What I like about Libby is her fearlessness and the fact there’s never any drama with her. She seems to just love being part of the competition and challenging herself.

Perri Kiely scored a whopping 38.0 for his high-energy jive routine. He literally just missed out on getting some 10’s from the judges.

They told Perri he needs to add some extra showmanship to his performance, which I think is a little harsh as I really felt he performed his socks off.

However, I think it’s only a matter of time before we see him and his skating partner Vanessa Bauer scoring full marks… Maybe next week?!

Maura Higgins was so worried about trying the headbanger, especially after hitting her head in rehearsals. Luckily she was wearing a helmet so didn’t get badly hurt but obviously she couldn’t wear it on the night, so it took real guts to go out there and perform the headbanger in front of millions of people.

Understandably she was a nervous wreck beforehand but myself and all the cast gave her some words of encouragement, and she did a great job.

Sadly we said goodbye to Ian H Watkins and his pro Matt Evers, who although they didn’t win Dancing on Ice, won the hearts of the audience.

I think it was brilliant we had a same sex couple competing on the show and I really hope other talent shows around the world are inspired to do the same.

Although this week’s show was business as usual in front of the cameras, at times, behind the scenes the atmosphere was quite emotional following Phillip Schofield's news earlier in the week.

It was great to see Phil at the studios, and after the tough week he’d had, it was lovely to catch up with him and let him know that we’re all supporting him.
