GMB: David Hasselhoff refuses to debate obesity with Piers
Good Morning Britain hosted a debate over Cosmopolitan’s latest cover asking if it promoted body positivity or was being irresponsible. Piers Morgan insisted the image of a plus size model on the cover was “not healthy” during a pandemic noting there is a 70 percent higher chance of severe illness if you are overweight. As the debate ended, Morgan welcomed David Hasselhoff onto the show and was keen to get his thoughts on the matter.
Morgan began: “We are talking to someone who has never been obese, he is a fine figure of a man.
“He was the star of Baywatch and had the coolest car in Knight Rider, and now Kit could be yours.”
As the camera cut to Hasselhoff, he could be seen with his head in hands laughing at the obesity row which has just been aired.
“Wow,” he simply exclaimed. “Wow. I’m out of it.”

Morgan replied: “But the thing about you, I know, because I’ve worked with you for a long time, is you take good care of yourself.”
“Are we really going to get into this?” Hasselhoff asked taken aback by the line of questioning.
Morgan asserted: “Yes we are,” with the actor hitting back: “No, we’re not!”
But the GMB host persisted: “I want a quick reaction from you about that debate. Do you think we should be celebrating obesity as healthy?”
“You know I’m not going to get into this because my daughter has been on the show and she is obese and she is healthy so I’m not getting into okay,” Hasselhoff remarked.
The Baywatch star was referring to his daughter Hayley who has spoken on Good Morning Britain in the past about obesity and body positivity.
Susanna Reid chipped in: “You just got into it and absolutely right. It’s not easy to always be super slim and I think people who are overweight, trying to stay healthy is something we should support.”
