Eamonn Holmes shares sweet birthday message for Dame Barbara Windsor

Eamonn Holmes has shared a sweet birthday tribute for Dame Barbara Windsor after her husband Scott Mitchell revealed she’d been moved to a care home.

The EastEnders legend celebrated her 83rd birthday this week, with the This Morning presenter sharing a snap of the pair of them dressed up to the nines, along with his wife and co-star Ruth Langsford.

‘We laughed all night …. this wasn’t so long ago,’ he wrote. ‘Just came across it and realised it was Barbara’s birthday this week.

‘We know it’s been an emotional week for Scott but wanted to share the memory with him and you. Happy Birthday Babs 🎂 x’.

Eamonn’s certainly not the only one to have been celebrating the icon’s birthday, with fans marking the occasion with sweet messages, photos and videos of the star.

Scott, who has been married to Barbara for 20 years, recently explained that he’d moved her into a care home amid her battle with dementia.

‘I feel I’m on an emotional rollercoaster. I walk around, trying to keep busy, then burst in to tears. It feels like a bereavement,’ he told The Sun.

‘It’s always been my biggest fear, that one day I would have to take her somewhere and she’d be thinking, “Why would he do this to me?” That fear has become a reality. It’s something I never wanted.’

Although it took her a little while to settle in, her close friend Christopher Biggins has reassured fans that she’s ‘comfortable and happy’ in her new home.

‘It is such a difficult situation and Scott has behaved impeccably,’ the Mirror states he said.

‘I don’t know how he has done it. He deserves the highest accolade that anybody can give anybody, together with all carers.

‘The decision I know wasn’t easy but I think he has made the right decision for everybody concerned. It is just tragic.

‘But you have to look to the future and to Barbara’s comfort. I hear she is very comfortable and happy.’
