EastEnders fans distracted by Whitney Dean’s dyed hair makeover amid Kush fling

Whitney Dean's new hair was a talking point during Monday evening's EastEnders, as she debuted a striking new look before viewers.

Ditching her raven-black hair, the market stall worker, played by Shona McGarty, coloured her locks a shade of tomato red.

Her first scene saw Whitney appear in the kitchen after a night of passion with new man Kush Kazemi (Davood Ghadami), leaning against the doorframe.

However, it wasn't the flirty conversation that played out between the lovebirds that caught fans' attention – but Whitney's barnet.

Taking to Twitter, viewers praised Whitney's new ‘do, with some suggesting the colour of her hair was symbolic.

Fans wondered whether Whitney dyed her hair red when things were going well in her life, and coloured it darker when she was down on her luck.

One wrote: "Whitney always has red hair when she's happy and black hair when she's sad."

"Whitney with her red hair is automatically better than Whitney with black hair," added a second.

A third chimed: "Is Whitney's hair colour some sort of symbolism for her happiness. When things are going well it's red and I'm guessing it'll be back to black when Kush is gone?"

And a fourth remarked: "Whitney's red hair LOVE IT."

Having split from leopard print queen Kat Slater, Kush unexpectedly sent sparks flying with Whitney, with the pair striking up a romance.

Biting her lip as she looked at him in the kitchen, Whitney alluded to their affair, asking: "I ain’t knackered you out already, have I?"

"No, I'm ready for round two whenever you are," Kush replied.

Whitney one-upped him, remarking: "Technically, it's round four. But I ain't counting."

Unfortunately, their flirting was cut short by a message from Gray Atkins, played by Toby Alexander, asking Whitney to call around.

She headed upstairs to get dressed, leaving Kush behind to follow Gray's command.

Whitney is completely unaware of the lawyer's dark past, having murdered his wife Chantelle (Jessica Plummer) in devastating scenes last year.

Can Kush save Whitney from falling for the cold-blooded killer, or has Gray already got under her skin?

EastEnders airs Mondays and Fridays at 8pm and Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One.
