Linda Carter (played by Kellie Bright) lost the love of her life Mick Carter (Danny Dyer) in a Christmas Day tragedy. She has spent the year so far trying to move forward with her life in Walford, but in upcoming EastEnders scenes, she will have to relive her trauma as Janine Butcher (Charlie Brooks) decides on her plea from prison. Her friends attempt to help her, but she is later left heartbroken when she overhears a drunken revelation from Alfie Moon (Shane Richie).

In scenes of the BBC soap yet to air, Linda frets as she waits for an update from her lawyer on the status of Janine’s plea.

She begins to stress about the potential of having to go through a trial.

Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) and Alfie rally around Linda and convince her to attend the gym opening in an effort to distract her.

At the gym, Linda and Alfie bond over their shared history with boxing, and Linda later gets an update on Janine.

Sam Mitchell (Kim Medcalf) and Alfie later drink together in The Vic as they speak about their respective failed love lives.

The tipsy paid share a joke about his relationship with Linda, unaware that she is listening to them.

Upset, Linda later confronts Alfie about his remarks – will he be able to explain himself?

Last year, fans were convinced Linda and Alfie would start a romance after both of their exes had moved on.

Linda’s marriage to Mick had crumbled and he became engaged to Janine, while Alfie’s attempts to win back ex-wife Kat Slater failed.

Last year, Linda was stood up by a date and Alfie stepped in to enjoy a few drinks with her.

Some fans began to assume it wouldn’t be long before the two began dating properly.

However, their predictions never came to fruition and it seems Alfie and Linda are happy being friends.

With the upcoming conversation though, could the pair decide to take their relationship to the next level?

Perhaps after confronting Alfie, Linda realises they do share a spark.

Feeling as though she is betraying Mick, she might have been trying not to act on her feelings in the past.

Hearing Alfie’s joke might upset her initially but it could make her realise that she might have a chance with him.

Could Linda and Alfie soon become the Square’s newest couple?

Both have been heartbroken by recent events and could do with a distraction, plus they seem to get on well.

It’s possible they will decide to become an item, which might surprise Walford’s residents.

Despite warning Alfie she is now with Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden), Kat might not be pleased by the new potential romance.

EastEnders continues on Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One.
