EastEnders couple Martin and Stacey Fowler will be quizzed by the police next week as Ruby’s rape storyline continues.
A new story for Ruby (Louisa Lytton) kicked off last night (October 8) when she was introduced to Martin’s old friends at the E20 and the devastating fallout will air this evening.
Tuesday’s scenes will see Ruby confide in Stacey that Matt took advantage of her after the party, sparking a big debate about sexual consent.
As Stacey stands by Ruby, she urges her friend to report the crime to the police – but ends up embroiled in a complicated feud with her husband Martin in the process.
With Martin not sure what to believe, tensions will rise in next week’s scenes after Ruby shows Stacey some of the nasty comments she’s been receiving online.
Devastated for Ruby, a furious Stacey is soon lashing out at Martin – convinced his friends are behind it.
Feeling fired up, Stacey begs Ruby to go to the police – unaware that Martin has learned some new information about the events of that night that could prove integral.
Fans will have to wait and see what Martin finds out but it results in Ruby deciding against reporting the rape after all, vowing to move on with her life instead.
But after another night out at the E20, Ruby struggles to cope with what’s happened – prompting Stacey to reach out and share her own experience.
Emboldened by Stacey’s words, Ruby heads to the police station to report the rape and it’s not long before the Fowlers are both being called in to give their statements too.
However, the pressure continues for Martin after his police interview and he’s left feeling increasingly uncomfortable when he bumps into Ross – who is desperate for an update.
Martin is left even more conflicted when Ross shows him a text from Ruby, but what will his divided loyalties mean for his marriage to Stacey?
EastEnders airs these scenes next week on BBC One.
