Rita Simons touched down in Australia this morning ahead of I’m A Celebrity.
The EastEnders star glided through the airport wearing a big pair of dark sunglasses hoping to go undetected.
The soap actress played Roxy Mitchell on the BBC soap until her character’s untimely death in a swimming pool with on screen sister Ronnie two years ago.
She was one of the soap’s most popular characters so ITV bosses are no doubt hoping the Londoner will be a hit with fans of the reality show.
The EastEnders star was staying coy when she landed saying: “I’m A Celebrity? I don’t know what you are talking about. I’m on holiday.
“I have never been to Australia before so I am looking forward to it.”
Asked why she had died her hair pink she snapped: “Why not. It looks good and I fancied a change.”
Other stars already Down Under to take part include Coronation Street star Sair Khan, Hollyoaks star Malique Thompson-Dwyer, X Factor runner up Fleur East, TV host Nick Knowles and football manager Harry Redknapp
Sharing Roxy’s unconventional style, Rita looked every inch the star with her bright pink hair tucked up in a bun.
After the long flight she wore black leggings with a pair of white trainers and a camouflage gilet.
But it won’t be a walk in the park for the actress who has previously admitted to suffering with anxiety so will no doubt be facing even more of a struggle than her other campmates as she is forced to leave all her home comforts behind and live on rations of rice and beans in the big outdoors.
Rita first joined EastEnders in 2007 alongside Samantha Womack, who played her sister Ronnie.
The glamorous, fun loving pair arrived in Walford and decided to move there permanently from Ibiza, where they had been running a bar together.
They were both killed off in 2017 when Roxy was giving Ronnie away at her wedding to Jack and the pair went off to drink and talk at the hotel’s swimming pool.
Ronnie found Roxy at the bottom of it and dived in to save her but got her wedding dress stuck and the pair drowned.
Rita wasn’t too happy at being killed off at the time and in an interview on The Late Show aired her displeasure, saying: "I was ready to leave, definitely wasn’t ready to die.
"So when I was told we were dying – now I’m gonna swear – that was a right f**king kick in the b******s”."
