Emmerdale teen Jacob Gallagher realises that he’s developing inappropriate feelings for Maya Stepney next week.
Jacob (Joe-Warren Plant) hated Maya just a few weeks ago, but he’s gradually started to realise that she’s not all bad.
Next week’s episodes offer some tell-tale signs of the drama to come, after Charity Dingle’s son Noah mentions to headteacher Jessie Grant that Maya (Louisa Clein) kindly gave him a lift to school.
This lands Maya in trouble for breaking the school’s safeguarding rules and Jacob later takes revenge against Noah by pushing him over at the bus stop, clearly overreacting.
Jacob’s strength of feeling over the situation only makes matters worse for Maya, who receives a formal warning from Jessie over what’s happened.
Later in the week, things are looking brighter for Maya when she makes peace with David (Matthew Wolfenden) and moves back in with him after their recent rows over Leyla Harding.
Although David and Jacob both celebrate as things get back to normal, Maya’s stepdaughter Leanna is livid and lashes out at her – forcing Jacob to act as peacemaker.
Maya shows her gratitude towards Jacob for defending her against Leanna, before snuggling up to David on the sofa.
Watching on jealously, Jacob starts to realise that he has feelings of his own for Maya. Will this end in tears and is it only a matter of time before he acts on his crush?
Emmerdale airs these scenes on Thursday, October 18 at 7pm on ITV.
