Emmerdale's Anna Nightingale reveals how she hid baby bump on set after announcing second pregnancy

EMMERDALE star Anna Nightingale has revealed how she has been hiding her baby bump on set after keeping her second pregnancy secret for months.

The 30-year-old, who plays feisty Andrea Tate on the ITV soap, admitted that pregnancy wasn’t part of her character’s storyline so the team have had to come up with ways to keep it under wraps.

Asked if it was going to be hard keeping the bump hidden, Anna told OK! Magazine: “Yeah, it’s not going to be part of my character’s journey, so we have to hide it. Some days you can really see it and some days you can’t.

“So there’s been a lot of me sitting at tables or carrying a well placed bag or clipboard!”

She also teased she has lots of “explosive” storylines coming up, which suggests her exit for maternity leave will be dramatic.

Anna and her partner Daren Dixon decided they wanted to keep the news to themselves until they had past all the health milestones in her pregnancy.

This also meant not telling their daughter Autumn, four, because they feared she would let the news slip.

The actress explained: “Autumn’s very vocal and loves to talk to everyone, so we had to be calculated about when we told her.

“We knew she’d do something like be in our local corner shop and say, ‘I’ll have this ice lolly please, and mummy’s having a baby.’ That’s the type of conversation she has. It’s been a bit surreal, a case of wearing lots of hats and avoiding people.

“People going, ‘Are you that girl off Emmerdale?’ and me going, ‘Erm, no, people just say I look like her!’ It’s lovely to finally be talking about it, we’re all very excited!”

Anna and Daren have been together for ten years and engaged for seven, but are yet to set a wedding date.
