Spirits are high for former Coronation Street star Faye Brookes as she has paid tribute to her ‘Viking Warrior, Guardian Angel’ mum Inger Barber.
The 34-year-old shared an emotional Instagram video of her mum ringing a bell in the hospital as staff appluded.
It was an uplifting moment in the wake of Inger completing her chemotherapy treatment amid a battle with bowel cancer.
‘I can’t believe I’m actually sharing this with you all but it only seems right to celebrate this unbelievable moment today!’ she told her delighted followers.
‘Our Viking Warrior, Our Guardian Angel, Our Absolute Rockstar of a Mum…. Inger Barber. I love you 10/05/22 is a day we’ll never forget.’
Faye went on to describe the journey that Inger and her family have gone on since 2021, when a diagnosis was made.
‘Let me take you back to last October 2021. My mother ended up in hospital,’ she shared.
‘After multiple tests, several doctors, blood samples & stressful, sleepless nights they diagnosed her with bowel cancer.
‘It was an earth shattering moment for all of us.’
Her post continued: ‘I cannot begin to tell you how much I admire this lady,
I am everything I am today because of her. I can’t imagine my life without you mama.
Inger Barber is the glue that holds our family together. We of course feared the worse but Mum being Mum -she was determined to fight & she did!!!
‘I decided to keep this chapter of our lives private not just for my Mother’s sake but for ours too, we didn’t know what to prepare ourselves for.
‘But today was the day she rang the bell!’
She went on to say that she knows her mum’s journey is not over as she gets herself better and she then encouraged her followers to remember what is truly important in life and to count her blessings.
Faye played Kate Connor until 2019 and was central to a number of stories including the marriage to soulmate Rana Habeeb before she was then tragically killed.
She also played a significant part in the suicide story which saw her brother Aidan take his own life.
