Kim Kardashian Forced to Evacuate Home as California Wildfire Burns Out of Control

The reality star originally filmed footage of the fire from above while flying back to Los Angeles only to find out she would need to immediately evacuate her home.

Kim Kardashian has been forced to quickly pack and evacuate her home in Calabasas, California due to a massive wildfire burning in nearby Woolsey Canyon.

The 2000-acre Woolsey Fire is currently burning in Ventura County with officials reporting zero containment, per the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection. Kardashian had filmed the massive conflagration from her plane to her Instagram Stories before discovering that it was impacting her community.

She next posted another video of the fire captioned, "Pray for Calabasas. Just landed back home and had 1 hour to pack up & evacuate. I pray everyone is safe."

Kim’s sister Kourtney, who lives nearby, also chose to evacuate though she was not under a mandatory order to do so. "I pray that everyone is kept safe and protected from these fires," Kourtney wrote in her own Instagram stories.

According to TMZ, Kim was returning from a visit to San Quentin Prison in northern California when she spotted the blaze. Kim was reportedly there to look at programs the prison has for its inmates, but it’s worth nothing that death row inmate Kevin Cooper is incarcerated there; Kim has been asking the governor to look into his case.

The Los Angeles Fire Department issued a mandatory evacuation for many residents in the Los Angeles area as the fire continued to burn out of control late Thursday night. It was the second wildfire to spring up on Thursday.

Earlier in the day, another wildfire in Santa Rosa Valley called the Hill Fire shut down the 101 freeway and forced the evacuation of nearly 1,200 homes. That fire is burning nearly 10,000 acres and situated only a few miles from the Woolsey fire near the border of Los Angeles and Ventura counties, as reported by ABC 7.

Actress and activist Alyssa Milano was displaced by the Hill fire earlier in the evening on Thursday, updating her fans via social media as well. That fire is blazing near the site of the mass shooting in Thousand Oaks Wednesday night. After evacuating, Milano continued her advocacy in the wake of the latest mass shooting.

These were only two of the fires burning uncontrolled in California deep into the night on Thursday. The entire town of Paradise, California was forced to evacuate in northern California due to a third uncontained fire that has already burned more than 20,000 acres, devastating the region.
