Last week, Kelly Brook said she “didn’t like” her time on Loose Women because she felt “unpopular” with audiences for her “glamorous” appearance and “childless” lifestyle. The TV star joined the ITV daytime favourite in 2018, although her time on the show was short-lived. However, her former co-star Linda Robson has since hit back at the claims in an exclusive interview with Express.co.uk.
The 41-year-old former glamour model said in an interview with MailOnline that she was always going to be the “unpopular” one.
“The trouble with Loose Women is that the panel can’t all have the same opinion,” she told the publication.
“I was always on that show as the childless, glamorous one. It didn’t work.”
The former Big Breakfast star went on to add that in her 30s she dated men with who she didn’t want to have children.
She claimed this meant she didn’t have a similar lifestyle to many of the ITV daytime show’s audience watching at home.
Kelly added this resulted in “negativity” being felt by her, saying Twitter would be filled with unsavoury remarks following an appearance.
However, Linda who has been a staple on Loose Women since 2012, has disregarded Kelly’s remarks.
The Birds of a Feather actress said she doesn’t believe anyone goes on the show based on how glamourous they are.
She told Express.co.uk: “I think they go on there because they’ve got things to talk about.”
“Kelly is lovely,” the star insisted. “But I think most of us have got children, partners or we’re separated and then sometimes you run out of things to talk about, maybe.
“She was only on there for a little while and then I don’t know whose choice it was for her to go or if she just got another job, I don’t know.”
Addressing Kelly’s claims, Linda continued: “That just sounds boring that you would say that about yourself, that you were childless and glamourous.”
“There are lots of glamourous people on there,” she added.
“I think we’re all quite glamorous, well, I like to think we are. Maybe not when we arrive there but when we go on air, we all look bloody gorgeous.”
Linda also discussed another new arrival, Charlene White, after she took over from Andrea McLean earlier this year.
Andrea had fronted the show since 2007 but decided to leave after 13 years.
Speaking about Andrea’s replacement, Linda went on to admit that she feared Charlene would be “too newsy” for the panel.
She explained: “At first, I thought she was going to be a bit too newsy and she was at first but now she has lightened up.
“For her, she has always done the serious stuff but now she is really enjoying it and she has relaxed.
“She been absolutely lovely and a great anchor as well. They’re the ones that have got the tough job of getting us all to speak and making sure we all get our turn.”
Loose Women airs weekdays at 12.30pm on ITV.
