Netflix has finally set a release date for the last eight episodes of Lucifer’s delayed fifth season. Having resumed production back in September, fans are still keeping their eyes open for new footage of episodes 9-16. Writer Joe Henderson has now shared the first details for the show’s next trailer.
Co-showrunner Joe Henderson has teased the release of the highly anticipated first trailer for Lucifer season five, part two.
Only eight episodes of the latest instalment have been released so far, and Netflix subscribers have been waiting since last August for the show’s return.
Thankfully, the streaming service broke their silence this week, confirming new episodes of Lucifer will hit screens on Friday, May 28.
After the latest exciting announcement, viewers immediately set their sights on the first trailer for the back half of season five.
While there is no indication of when the sneak peek could finally be released, Joe Henderson told Word Balloon that fans are in for a treat.
He teased: “You guys are gonna s**t yourself when you see that trailer.”
The fantasy police procedural fully leaned into its more Biblical aspects this season, as Lucifer Morningstar (played by Tom Ellis) took on his twin brother, the archangel Michael.
Their celestial feud turned violent in the last moments of the midseason finale, forcing their father, God (Dennis Haysbert), to step in.
Leaving the series dangling over a cliff edge, fans are eager to see the adventures of Lucifer and detective Chloe Decker (Lauren German) continue next month.
Henderson added: “It is awesome. I mean, the season itself is awesome, but when you guys see the trailer.”
The co-writer also assured viewers the upcoming trailer will be more than a simple sneak peek at the rest of the season.
Rather than a brief teaser trailer, fans are now expecting an epic preview of season 5b that could shed light on some of the major plot points of the coming episodes.

He continued: “I will warn everyone that the trailer does have some spoilers that you might not want to see, but it won’t ruin the experience, it will only add to it in my opinion
“But it’s got a lot. I was just watching it and I was like, ‘Did we do all that in eight episodes? Wow!’”
Season five was initially expected to wrap up the series for good, before Netflix made the surprising decision to renew Lucifer for another instalment last year.
Still, most of the series was written and filmed with a conclusion in mind, so subscribers should expect big things from Lucifer and God’s impending reunion.
Regarding the actual release date for the upcoming trailer, the first teaser for season 5a could offer some clues.
As that trailer was released July 13, just over a month before Lucifer’s August 2020 premiere, the next promo could follow a similar trend.
With just under two months to go before Lucifer’s fifth season reaches its conclusion, a trailer should be expected to arrive in the next few weeks.
Meanwhile, filming has just wrapped up on the series’ sixth and final season, and ‘Lucifans’ are already starting to prepare for an emotional farewell to their favourite characters.
Lucifer Season 5, Part 2 will be released on Friday, May 28 on Netflix.
