EASTENDER Maisie Smith is set to swap Walford for Hollywood – but it might not be solely her acting skills that make her a big star.
Several high-profile record labels are interested in offering the actress a mega-money record deal to become the next big Brit pop singer.
Multitalented Maisie, who was a runner-up on BBC1’s Strictly Come Dancing last month, has an amazing voice, as her TikTok followers well know, and she is keen to explore her passion.
She has been putting out covers on her YouTube channel for years and now industry bigwigs have taken note.
A source said: “Maisie can sing, dance and act — she’s a triple threat.
"A couple of major record labels are desperate to sign her as they think she could be hugely successful.
"She could be the next Dua Lipa or Rita Ora, appearing in films alongside performing — the world really is her oyster. Her voice is impressive and she has a huge range.
“Maisie is really versatile and has already amassed a huge fanbase. She’s also got a feisty, fun personality, which makes her stand out.”
Maisie, who joined the BBC1 soap in 2008 as Tiffany Butcher, is also set to explore lucrative branding deals that she hasn’t been able to take on until she is out of her BBC contract in October because of strict rules against advertising.
Other ex-EastEnders stars to have had chart success include Michelle Gayle, Richard Blackwood, and Martine McCutcheon.
Maisie’s lookalike mum Julia, who has helped to manage her career over the years, has spoken about her daughter’s love of performing on stage.
She told us last month: “I would love to go to the West End to see my daughter in a show. It really would be the icing on the cake.”
Should Maisie decide to pursue a pop career, she has the perfect person to go to for advice . . . her rumoured beau, singer HRVY.
Now that’s a duet we would love to see . . .
MATT Edmondson has always been motivated in his spare time, from creating TV shows to producing his own music.
But the TV and radio host has revealed he suffers a rare mood disorder that can leave him wanting to stay awake for days or feeling knocked out.
In an exclusive interview, he told us: “I need to be doing something at all times, but I have a condition called cyclothymia.
“I have these extreme episodes where I feel really productive and positive and then periods where I feel low and unmotivated – thankfully this is more rarely.
“I’m on top of it now, but it was a little confusing when I was younger.
“I was in my late 20s when I was diagnosed.”
This week Matt launched the Currys PC World E-Scooter Safety Campaign. He added: “We’re gearing up to help riders scoot responsibly when they are legal to use in public.”
Anna shows her netty side
ANNA Vakili feared her stint on Love Island would end her pharmacy career.
The reality star, seen here in a racy fishnet outfit, has told how she thought she would be “struck off” for showing her wild side on the ITV2 dating show in 2019.
Speaking on Levelled Up: The Podcast! in association with BooHoo, out tomorrow, Anna said: “I was so worried, I thought I’d get struck off the [General Pharmaceutical Council] register. I kept thinking of how Dr Alex George didn’t get struck off.
"Dr Alex, though, is a professional all of the time. He’s like a very typical doctor.
"You don’t walk into a pharmacy and expect to see me – I have two sides, my pharmacist side and my wild side, which I showed on Love Island.”
It’s a good thing she wasn’t struck off, because Anna didn’t think twice about returning to her chemist job to help with the UK’s Covid-19 effort.

Joey: Dating's a challenge
JOEY Essex insists he is finally ready to find a wifey.
The reality TV king, who has been linked in the past to Rita Ora as well as models Roxy Horner and Brenda Santos, told us: “I’m 30 now. I want to settle down and start a family.”
Joey – due to appear on E4’s Celebs Go Dating, starting Monday, January 25 – insists he has never cheated as “I would feel too bad on the world and the universe”.
He added: “My whole body would feel like it’s a really bad thing that I’m doing if I was to cheat on a girl.
“I’ve never put myself in that position. People are surprised by that, but it’s why I dump girls so quickly. I don’t need to waste time and cheat on them. I guess I haven’t found a girl who challenges me.”
Can it really be that difficult to find a woman who “challenges” Joey?

ITV to shock and a-maze
ITV bosses have made some madcap shows over the years, including the likes of canine talent show That Dog Can Dance and diving competition Splash!
But their latest venture is bonkers even by their standards.
We can exclusively reveal that a new celebrity game show called Apocalypse Wow has been slated for schedules on ITV2 this year.
The show – dubbed The Chase meets Gladiators in a German fetish club – will be filmed at underground venue Vaseline in Leeds which is billed as “a place with no rules”.
Telly cook Gino D’Acampo and presenters Maya Jama and Big Narstie have all been approached to compete in Crystal Maze-type challenges against the “superhuman bosses” to win cash.
Suggested characters include The Strongman, The Valkyrie, The Eater, The Big One, and Pop Bitch.
This year is about to get a lot weirder.
EX-Emmerdale actress Sammy Winward has had a pop at the soap for making her strip down to a bikini for a storyline.
The telly star – who played Katie Sugden for 14 years before her character met a grisly end in 2015 – revealed the crew were so concerned about her and co-star Verity Rushworth filming in swimwear that they stepped in.
She said: “That would never be allowed now. There was a storyline with me and Verity herding cows in bikinis and a costume girl wrapped a towel around me and said, ‘You’re not doing it any more. It’s not right’. ”
It comes after actress Suranne Jones revealed she was told to strip for lads’ mags when on Corrie.
She said: “It wasn’t what I had signed up to.”
