La Casa de Papel is currently filming its fifth season ahead of returning to Netflix. However, some viewers have already begun wondering whether Money Heist has a sixth season in the works as well. Here’s everything you need to know about the future of the Spanish drama.
Earlier this year, Money Heist fans were left on tenterhooks about what will happen next in the Spanish crime thriller.
Season four ended with the Professor (played by Alvaro Morte) being held at gunpoint by Alicia Sierra (Najwa Nimri).
Thankfully a fifth season has been confirmed for the show and it has already been filming for a few months.
However, some viewers will be curious what the future holds for the series after this.
Will there be a sixth season of Money Heist?
Unfortunately, it has been confirmed Money Heist will be ending with its fifth season on Netflix.
This was confirmed back in July when the streamer announced the heist would be coming to an end.
Speaking about the news, creator Alex Pina said: “We have spent almost a year thinking about how to destroy the band.
“How to put the Professor on the ropes. How to get into situations that are irreversible for many characters.
“The result is the fifth season of La Casa de Papel.
“The war reaches its most extreme and savage levels, but it is also the most epic and exciting season.”
Fans will be understandably excited to see how this all plays out in the final outing.
However, many will also be sad the show has been cancelled on Netflix.

There does not seem to be an official reason for the show ending.
Although, given Pina’s statement, it appears the storyline may just be coming to its natural end.
While there will be no more of the official series for fans to watch after season five, the world of La Casa de Papel could continue.
This was teased by creator Pina in an interview with OprahMag.com back in April 2020.
He said: “We do have many possibilities for some spin-offs, yes.
“And I think that’s thanks to the strong and powerful identities of the characters.
“We’ve always looked for characters to have a very complex, layered design.
“So I think almost every character of Money Heist has a duality that we would like to see in a spinoff.
“We could watch any of them in other contexts.”
No more has been revealed about this yet but fans will be hoping to see more of the characters back once again.
Money Heist seasons 1 to 4 are available to stream on Netflix now.
